ING Insurance Becomes Main Sponsor Of National Badminton Squad

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- ING Insurance Berhad (ING) is now the main sponsor of the national badminton squad.

The sponsorship also include insurance coverage for back-up shuttlers and players from the Bukit Jalil Sports School, the Badminton Association of Malaysia announced Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters after the announcement, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the one-year sponsorship would be a smart partnership between the two parties at the national and international arenas.

Under the sponsorship, the ING logo will be placed on the front of the jerseys while the Proton logo, the previous sponsor, on the sleeves.

Meanwhile, ING Insurance president and chief executive officer Dr Nirmala Menon said ING was upbeat about the sponsorship.

"We hope the cooperation will encourage other sponsorships in sports to inculcate sports activities and promote a healthy lifestyle," she said.

ING Insurance Berhad is part of a Dutch financial conglomerate, ING Group.
