Badminton: Chong Wei An Expert Strategist - Sony

JAKARTA,June 25 (Bernama) -- Indonesia's singles player Sony Dwi Kuncoro considers his adversary in the men's semifinals of the Indonesian Open Badminton Championships 2010 Saturday, Datuk Lee Chong Wei, as an expert strategist.

"Lee Chong Wei is smart in planning his strategy. He is smart in changing his rhythm from a slow pace into a fast game," said Sony after defeating another Malaysian singles player, Wong Choon Han, in the quarterfinals at Istora Senayan, here Friday.

The world's number eight said that he was ready to repeat his victory over Chong Wei, also in the semifinals at the Singapore Open a week ago.

"Playing against him is always difficult and tiring, so I have made all-out preparation. I will give my everything," he said.

Kuncoro said he would try to enjoy the game saturday and at the same time endeavour to anticipate the normal strategy used by Chong Wei.

Meanwhile, Chong Wei, who is the defending champion, said he was more prepared for the game tomorrow compared to the encounter with Kuncoro during the Singapore Open.

At the Singapore Open, Chong Wei suffered a knee injury after competing in the Thomas Cup with the Malaysian squad in Kuala Lumpur last month.

The injury on the left knee was healing and the All-England Champion is ready to give his best performance this time around although the Indonesian Open posed a great challenge to foreign players.

"Playing in Indonesia against Indonesian players is never easy. Whether it is against Taufik Hidayat, Kuncoro or Simon Santoso, they are all the same. They will truly be inspired playing in front of the large home crowd," he said.

Nonetheless, Chong Wei said he had already experienced the aura of playing in Indonesia, which used to be frightening before.
