Badminton: Chong Wei Moves Into Third Round After Beating Hafiz

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- Datuk Lee Chong Wei moved into the third round of the BWF-Yonex World Badminton Championships after beating Muhammad Hafiz Hashim in an all-Malaysian affair at the Pierre de Coubertin stadium in Paris, France, Wednesday.

Chong Wei, the world number one, beat Hafiz 21-16, 21-16, to set up a date with Jan O Jorgensen from Denmark on Thursday.

Veteran Wong Choong Hann will meet Kazushi Yamada from Japan later Wednesday night.

In the women's singles, Wong Mew Choo will meet Ella Diehl from Russia while the men's doubles pair Gan Teik Chai/Tan Bin Shen face Japan's Hirokatsu Hashimoto/Nariyasu Hirata.

Both matches will be played later Wednesday night.
