"Train With Malaysia's Best Players and Coaches"

Badminton Coaching Holidays in Kuala Lumpur

Malaysia's long had a great reputation for producing world class players and coaches. The capital - Kuala Lumpur (KL) - is a terrific place to visit, with fantastic shopping, quality hotels, fascinating cultural diversity, and great food. Now, Badminton Information is pleased to announce that we will be providing week-long badminton coaching holidays in KL.

For years, holiday hotspots, such as Spain, Portugal and Florida, have provided tennis coaching holidays. We believe the time is long overdue for something similar - but not the same - for badminton players.
So, we've taken the idea and adapted it. Badminton Information will provide you with a one-on-one coaching week under the experienced eye of our head coach, Andrew Chang - one of Malaysia's best.
This is not the same as a typical tennis week, where you will find yourself in a large group and the coaching is designed to meet the needs of the many rather than the individual.

A different approach

You will have a dedicated personal coach for the week, who will be responsible for all aspects of your badminton coaching, whether it's technique, match play, or physical fitness. The pace and content of the coaching will be tailored to your own play and badminton capabilities. That way we can guarantee you'll get the most from your week.

A great coaching team

For many years Malaysia has been a top badminton country. Not bad for a relatively small country (compared say to Indonesia and India). In the 1990s, the Sidek brothers dominated men's badminton. Our head coach, Andrew Chang, was part of the the squad and trained with these world class players.

Since his retirement from competitive badminton, Andrew has become one of Malaysia's top coaches and brings all the knowledge and skill he's learnt to helping players improve their badminton.
Most of his time has been spent coaching players in KL. There's another great crop of young Malaysian players coming through who've benefited form all the knowledge and expertise Andrew's gained.

Many of Malaysia's top players have gone on to gain coaching qualifications and have joined Andrew's coaching team.
Recently, Kostas from Germany visited KL on a business trip. He spent part of the week with us, improving his badminton. It gave us an idea - how about badminton holidays? After all, tennis has been doing it for years. Why not badminton?

So, we've put together a package that includes coaching and accommodation.

Come on one of our badminton coaching holidays and you'll benefit from the combined skill and experience of Andrew and his team.

Andrew's put his ideas on coaching into a book "Sure Fire Badminton Drills". Please visit our Ebook webpage to find out more about Andrew and his great ideas on badminton coaching.

Your coaching

You'll spend the first half-hour knocking up and playing with the coaching team.
Andrew will assess your badminton playing and discuss with you what he thinks needs concentrating on, your strengths and weaknesses, and agree the coaching itinerary for the rest of the week and give you a schedule. That way you'll know exactly what to expect and understand the training objectives, in terms of both technical and physical goals.

Typically, the training programme will cover:

Skills - basic, intermediate and advanced (depending on your current ability), covering clears, smashes, drives and footwork

Fitness - develop speed and stamina through training exercises on the court and in the gym, weight training etc.

Match Play - improve your strategy and tactics for singles, doubles and mixed through a combination of playing, analysis and instruction

At the end of each day, we'll jointly review the training and the progress you've made and see if the training programme needs any fine tuning.

We can't be precise about your training schedule - so much depends on you. This is genuinely a personal training programme, not a standard itinerary designed to suit a large group of players.

As an example, here's the itinerary for one of the players who's visited us. It might be right for you - or you may require something completely different.

Of course, if you'd like a little more free time and a little less badminton we can accommodate this. Equally, if you want to play even more, then we'd be happy to arrange for you to play in the evening and meet up with players from local badminton cubs.

As part of the package we'll arrange for you to visit the breathtaking Petronas Towers - a must-see for any visitor to KL. We can arrange more sightseeing for you - but this would reduce the time spent on a badminton court. The choice is yours - we're happy to accommodate your wishes.

Sight Seeing in Kuala Lumpur

With a population over 4 million, KL is Malaysia's capital and largest city. It's a fascinating mix of the ultra-modern and the old, and a wonderful example of multicultural diversity, with Malay, Chinese and Indian living side-by-side.

It's a city with great shopping, fantastic value hotels, and excellent restaurants.

The Petronas Towers, also known as the KLCC, are located in the heart of the city and contribute to KL's dramatic skyline.

The world's tallest twin structures and inspired by traditional Islamic architecture, the other attractions to be found here are the Philharmonic Hall, the Suria Shopping Complex, Aquaria Oceanarium and the beautiful KLCC park.

A visitor to KL must see the breathtaking Petronas Towers.

Lake Garden, open 9:00am to 6:00pm and with free admission, the 92-hectare park is set on a beautiful lake and features a Bird Park, Orchid Garden, Butterfly Park and Insect Museum.

Carcosa Seri Negara overlooks Lake Gardens and contains the beautifully restored residences of the British Governor and High Commissioner.

The National Museum, situated on top of a hill at Jalan Travers, gives a fascinating insight into the history and culture of Malaysia.

Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square) is where Malaysia marked its independence in 1957. Today, this event is commemorated by a 100 metre high flag pole - one of the tallest in the world. Beneath it can be found the Plaze Putra, a huge food and leisure centre.

The Golden Triangle contains most of KL's shopping malls and centres, luxury hotels, great restaurants and night life.

Chinatown is located in Pataling Street. It has retained much of its traditional, Chinese character, especially at night when street vendors display their wares.

Genting Highlands is a hilltop resort, close to KL, with a golf course, casino (the only land-based one in Malaysia) and luxury accommodation. At 2,000 metres, its climate is cooler than KL's.

Sunway Lagoon, situated twenty minutes from KL, is Malaysia's first international standard water theme park, with 80 acres of attractions such as giant water slides, a river and a waterfall garden. There's also the Pyramid shopping mall, and the Wildlife Park.

The Batu Caves are located 13 kilometres north of KL, and consist of a series of tall limestone caves. The largest is the Temple Cave, which contains a Hindu shrine beneath its 100 metre vaulted ceiling.

We'll arrange a room for you in one of KL's excellent value hotels. If you'd like to stay somewhere else, let us know and we'll arrange it for you and let you know what the additional charge will be.
