Badminton: Kien Keat/Boon Heong To Meet Hee Chun/Wee Kiong In Quarter Finals

JOHOR BAHARU, July 8 (Bernama) -- Top seed Malaysian pair Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong will meet fellow countrymen Mak Hee Chun/Tan Wee Kiong in the men's double quarter finals of the Yonex-Sunrise Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold 2010.

Kien Keat and Boon Heong had defeated fellow countrymen Ow Yao Han/Yew Hong Kheng 21-7, 21-13 in the tournament held at Johor Baharu City Stadium here Thursday.

Unseeded Hee Chun and Tan Wee Kiong had an upset victory of 12-21, 22-20, 21-15 over seventh seed fellow Malaysian pair Chan Peng Soon/Lim Khim Wah.

Sixth seed Malaysian pair Gan Teik Chai/Tan Bin Shen who defeated unseeded Singaporean pair Liu Yi/Terry Yeo Zhao Jiang will meet unseeded Indonesian pair Hendra Aprida Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto Chandra who defeated unseeded Malaysian pair Nelson Heg Wei Keat/Teo Ee Yi 21-6 21-18.

Eighth seed Hong Kong pair Yohan Hadikusumo Wiratama/Wong Wai Hong who defeated Malaysian pair Chooi Kah Ming/Pang Zheng Lin 21-14, 21-16 will meet Indonesian pair Angga Pratama/Rian Agung Saputro who defeated their fellow countrymen Fernando Kurniawan/Wifqi Windarto 17-21, 21-13, 21-15.

Unseeded Indonesian pair Candra Wijaya/Luluk Hadiyanto who defeated fifth seeded Malaysian pair Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah 21-17, 21-17 will meet their fellow countrymen Hendra Setiawan/Markis Kido who had an upset victory of 21-19, 19-21, 22-20 over another Malaysian pair Hoon Thien How/Ong Soon Hock.
