Badminton: Three Malaysian Pairs Enter Mixed Doubles Quarter Finals

JOHOR BAHARU, July 8 (Bernama) -- Three Malaysian pairs, Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying (4th seed), Tan Wee Kiong/Woon Khe Wei (8th) and Ong Jian Guo/Chong Sook Chin (unseeded) entered the mixed doubles quarter finals of the Yonex-Sunrise Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold 2010 tournament here Thursday.

Peng Soon and Liu Ying scored an upset win of 21-19, 14-21, 21-13 over fellow Malaysians Lim Khim Wah/Lim Yin Loo to meet Devin Lahardi Fitriawan/Liliyana Natsir of Indonesia.

Devin and Liliyana had an upset win of 21-3, 17-21, 21-12, over Flandi Limpele (Indonesia)/Lotte Jonathans(Netherlands).

Wee Kiong/Khe Wei who won 21-15, 11-21, 21-16 against fellow Malaysians Mohd Razif Abdul Latif/Marylen Ng Poau Leng will meet third seed Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam of Thailand, who defeated Mochamad Rizki Delynugraha/Richi Puspita Dili of Thailand 21-16, 21-17.

Jian Guo/Sook Chin who won 21-17 21-6 against fellow Malaysian Yeoh Kay Bin/ Karyn Cecilia Velez of USA will Japanese Shintaro Ikeda/Reiko Shiota (7th) who defeated Irfan Fadhilah/Weni Anggraini of Indonesia 21-18, 21-16.

Top seed Hendra Aprida Gunawan/Vita Marissa of Indonesia who defeated Malaysian pair Ow Yao Han/Lai Pei Jing 21-11, 21-12 will meet their countrymen Markis Kido/Lita Nurlita who had a victory of 21-17 21-18 against Gan Teik Chai/Ng Hui Lin, another Malaysian pair.
