Bao Chun Lai Attend Asia Championship to Test His Knee

31st March, China badminton team main coach Li Yong Bo said: "Bao Chun Lai will not be competing in the Asia Championship." This news has been seen on newspaper on 1st April. After 1 week, this is known as Li Yong Bo April's Fool joke. Because Bao not only went for the Asia Championship but have already reached the quarterfinals.

Why would Bao go for the Asia Championship? Main coach Li Yong Bo has given the reasons on Tuesday. After All England, Chen Jin wanted to rest because of his waist injury. Bao steadied on recent trainings so Bao will be a replacement for Chen Jin. The more important is the status on Bao in this Asia Championship.

Early this year, Bao went for the German Open, Swiss Open, and All England. But the main purpose is not the match, but is his knee injury. Bao said he does NMR in Germany and the doctor suggests him to go for surgery as soon as possible. In the end they are still not sure on that.

Bao participated on Asia Championship because most probably they want to test the progress on his injury. If Bao's performance is stable, it is proof that the conservative treatment is having an effect on Bao.

If not, Bao will need to go for surgical treatment based on this situation. Sudirman Cup will be held in Guang Zhou in May. If Bao can't attend, China will rely on Lin Dan and Chen Jin on men singles.
