Bao not going for surgery, afraid of missing Surdiman Cup

31st March, China badminton team main coach Li Yong Bo said, Bao don't care whether surgery has to be done, the most important thing for him now is to keep himself at the best possible condition.

Li said: "Yesterday (30th) we recruit most of the coach, medical team, and expert to make a final decision on Bao's injury. According to medical expert analysis, there's only a 70% success rate for Bao's surgery." Bao prefer to go for surgery and he believes only doing surgery will fully cure his pain.

Bao shouldn't be attending Asia Championship on 7th-12th April. Li said: "Although he's good in training these few days. But he is short of training time. He has to concentrate on recovering from injury. He would need give up on the Asia Championship, and even Surdiman Cup."

China players list for the Surdiman Cup will be released on the 10th April, there will be about 25 players on the team.

Li Yong Bo says that Bao's current training is just "ordinary training". And it's not enough for professional athletes.

If Bao is absent from the Asia Championship, he might lose the chance to play in the World Championships. Li: "This is not important as participating in the tournament might damage his knee more." And Bao also does not have regretful thoughts.

2009 is an unlucky year for Bao. Bao said: "This is only the first year after Olympics, so surgery or not, the main priority for me is to be at my best."
