Complete Badminton Training by Former World Champion and Legend Zhao Jianhua and Xiao Jie - Effective jump smash & spin net

by Andrew

The effective jump smash is a matter of timing, when you are in the air. The jump smash is used because it is more threatening since the contact point is higher. If you do not get the contact spot right, the jump smash would be rather useless and wasted.

As for the spin net, such shuttles will spin plenty but they would be higher as well. But these higher shuttles are intended to drop vertically downwards, thus it's harder to lift.

When doing such shots it's important to take shuttle earlier and higher. This makes it harder for your opponent to have a chance of pouncing on it since he's further away.

If the opponent is nearer, you have to spin it nearer and lower to the net by control your swing and strength. When your opponent is further away ,you can just spin a higher shot.

As the higher shuttle goes up it'll spin more. Vice verse. It's important to relax your grip. A common mistake is a gripping to tightly.
