Rotating your waist when serving create deception in the serve and give different varieties of serve such as the long high serve, the drive serve , the short serve and etc. If you're serving without any rotation action and standing in front of your opponent you'll just gonna expose too much to your opponent.

No matter serving high or low, flat and fast or the mid height serve the preparation must be the same. Turn your body so that your front shoulder faces the net. Rotate your body as your swing your racket and shift your weight forward from your back foot to your front foot.
