Danish Badminton is Europe's Best

The Danish badminton team is continually winning medals and championships in badminton competitions. But, why are they the best in Europe?

Badminton is an extremely popular sport in Denmark. It is one of the top three most popular sports in the country alongside handball and soccer. This popularity leads the media to provide a lot of coverage of the sport. Badminton competitions are always broadcasted on the major television networks in badminton.

Therefore, the best badminton players become stars such as Peter Gade and Tine Rasmussen. In addition, this helps attracting young athletes to badminton because they always have badminton idols to look up to. They can inspire to be like the current elite badminton players. There are also a lot of badminton played in elementary schools, middle schools and high schools.

The Danish Badminton team has dominated the competition in Europe. They have won the last 12 out of 19 mixed team championships in Europe. The other European countries just cannot seem to keep up with the Danish Badminton program. They're the only European country that has challenged the Asian programs such as China and Malaysia. They have also medaled in the 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004 Summer Olympics games.

The Danish Badminton program dominates in Europe because they have some of the best players in the world. Tine Rasmuessen is one of the best female badminton players in the world. And on Jan 11, 2009 she beat the #1 player in the world Zhou Mi at the Malaysia Open.

She is ranked second in the world with 69,243 points and Zhou has 72,300 points. In addition, she is inching closer toward the #1 ranked spot in each competition. Equally important, peter Gade is an elite badminton player that was ranked #1 from 1998 to 2001. He has won 16 Grand Prix titles. He is one of Danish men's most successful players of all time. He is still an active player and he is always ready to play and compete with the best in the world.

Lastly, the Danish Badminton program has an good support from Danish's government and their sponsors. The vast interest in the sport will provides a huge pool of talented young athletes from the coaches to pick from to build even more successful teams in the future.

The other teams in Europe and the world is getting stronger. However, the Danish team understands how to win and they are not going to forget how to either. The excellence of the program will continue.
