Kien Keat, Boon Heong Progress To Second Round

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- National doubles pair Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong moved into the second round of the Yonex-BWF 2010 World Championships badminton at the Pierre de Coubertin Stadium in Paris early Wednesday.

The world No. 2 pair beat Ondrej Kopriva/Tomas Kopriva of the Czech Republic 21-15, 21-13.

They are due to meet China pair Chai Biao/Zhang Nan Thursday.

Malaysian women singles player Lydia Cheah failed to make it to the second round after she lost to world No. 8 Juliane Schenk of Germany 16-21, 17-21.

Other Malaysians who went through to the second round are Datuk Lee Chong Wei, who faces fellow Malaysian Muhammad Hafiz Hashim today, women singles player Wong Mew Choo, senior player Wong Choong Hann and doubles pair Gan Teik Chan/Tan Bin Shen.
