Malaysia Forges Collaboration With Locog
PUTRAJAYA, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Youth and Sports will be collaborating with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (Locog) in the latter's 'International Inspiration' programme.
Youth and Sport Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the programme was aimed at inspiring youths to take up sports.
He said among the areas of collaboration would be the exchange of sports teachers.
"We also hope with this collaboration, Malaysian students in London can be enlisted as volunteers for the London Olympic Games," he told reporters after receiving a courtesy call from Locog director Colin Moynihan at his office here Thursday.
On the national badminton squad's training stint at the University of Bath's high performance training centre from Aug 23-28, Ahmad Shabery said it was to enable the players to acclimatise to the conditions in England and adapt to the different time zone there.
