Proton Title Sponsor For Thomas, Uber Cup

PETALING JAYA, April 16 (Bernama) -- Proton Holdings Bhd (Proton) has emerged as the title sponsor for the Thomas and Uber Cup tournaments, which will be held from May 9-16 at Putra Stadium, Bukit Jalil.

Announcing this on Friday, Proton group managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said Proton was proud to be affiliated with badminton, a sport that was not just closely-linked with the masses but had also lifted the name of the country.

"The opportunity to be the title sponsor for one of the most prestigious tournaments is the perfect branding exercise.

"As title sponsor, it is our duty to assist Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) in any way possible," he said at the sponsorship annnouncement and presentation of the tournament's official cars at the Proton Centre of Excellence in Subang Jaya near here.

An official website for the Thomas and Uber Cup, www.thomasuberkl2010.com was also launched at the function.

Also presents at the event was Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Razali Ibrahim and BAM vice president Datuk Mohamad Al-Amin Abdul Majid.
