Rexy Tells Doubles Partners to Let It All Out

Malaysia's doubles coach Rexy Mainaky has asked his players to tell their partners exactly how they feel and let it all out before they join up for the Olympic Games.

He was quoted as saying in the Malaysian media that he wants the partners to talk to each other and be candid with how they feel. He said that, this way, there would be no issues or controversies that lurk within the hearts of the players and they can focus solely on their Olympic campaigns.

Malaysia will be represented by two men's doubles pairs and one team in the women's doubles. Choong Tan Fook and Lee Wan Wah will be making their third Olympic appearance while Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong will be trying to recapture the form that took them to the 2007 All England title.

Wong Pei Tty and Chin Eei Hui will join forces in the women's doubles for Beijing.

"While the technical preparation is important towards getting them ready, it is not the only thing that needs to be done. It is also important that they feel good towards their partners," Rexy was quoted as saying.

"If they have differences, I hope they make efforts to resolve them before they leave for Beijing. I hope that don't keep things in their hearts. It's best for them to open up and discuss things that they are not satisfied with."

Rexy, who has always tried to add mental steel to his players' technical abilities, said that the last thing the team needed was extra pressure.

He said: "I don't need to remind them of what they are supposed to do because the pressure is always there in the Olympics.

"They are chasing their own goals for different reasons. I'm sure that all the top players feel this way in the Olympics because there is no certainty that they will feature in the next Olympics.

"It will be a good avenue for them to get to know each other better. Usually, they go separate ways after the regular training. But in camp, they are always with each other."
