Rosmah Saddened By Malaysia Defeat

KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 (Bernama) -- Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the the Prime Minister, has expressed her sadness over the defeat of the Malaysian Thomas Cup squad at the hands of the Chinese team in the semi-finals at Bukit Jalil last night.

"I am sad and I am sorry to Malaysian fans for the bitter defeat. Anyway, the Chinese squad was really a formidable side," she told reporters after attending the Outstanding Mother Award presentation in conjunction with the Mother's Day celebration organised by the Cheras Wanita Umno division here Saturday.

Rosmah, who is also Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) patron, however, commended the national squad for putting up a spirited display.

"I hope we will make a thorough preparation for the next Thomas Cup in two years' time," she said, adding that Malaysia could relive the glory of 1992 with a better preparation.

She also thanked Malaysian fans and the people for their unfailing support throughout the tournament.

Malaysia's Thomas Cup campaign dashed when they went down 0-3 to China in the quarter-finals.
