Lee Chong Wei has the ability to clean sweep Chinese seeders in any event. He has the potential of winning the men’s singles medal in 2012 London Olympics. And this is what he is aiming for right now.
As this news was clearly elaborated by Malaysian national Coach Tey Seu Bock. He is confident enough that Lee Chong Wei will put up a drastic show against Chinese seeders in Olympics 2012. Tey Seu Bock more added in his words that despite losing Japan Open 2011 from Chen Long last month, he is still confident and sure that Lee Chong Wei will make history in the upcoming Olympics.
The coach also expressed that Lee Chong Wei will not allow Chinese to dominate anymore. In the Japan Open Lin Dan gave a walkover to his teammate, while Chen Long who is a fresh seeder managed to get through the final and beat Lee Chong Wei in 73 minutes of 3 set match by 21-8, 10-21, 21-19.
Current World Number Four, Chen Long, who will elevate to Number Three when the Badminton World Federation (BWF) updates new rankings on Thursday, September 29, has turned into a complete player as he has defeated all top seeders in the men’s Singles category in the current year.
Tay Seu Bock, the single's coach of Malaysia said that Long will also be a threat for Chong Wei at the Olympics, as he has grown to a level where he can spoil the party of any seeder in the world.
Seu Bock said, “We have to face it that Chen Long has earned respect. He will be a threat.”
Tey Seu Bock said that his defeat against Chen Long make him more vigorous and aggressive in order to cover his weaknesses and mistakes. He said that Lee Chong Wei is well aware of Chinese plans and preparations about Olympics that's why he is also preparing for that and he is strong enough to disrupt their plans. And this
time Lee Chong Wei will not allow Chen Long or Chen Jin to gain any psychological edge.
He further added, “Chong Wei will have to just work harder to stay above all the growing challenges from other younger players. My only consolation is that the defeat will make Chong Wei more positive. I am confident that he will not let it affect him and in fact, he will bounce back as a stronger player as his focus is on the Olympics.”
Tey Seu Bock also said that only 1 victory of Chen Long against Lee Chong Wei is not enough to shake the potential and confidence of World number one. While talking about upcoming events like Denmark Open Premier Super Series and French Open Super Series, coach said that they will accept all results whether Lee Chong Wei wins or not but their main mission and focus is on Olympics men’s Single medal.
Seu Bock added that “We will not be alarmed if he doesn't win the Denmark Open or the French Open next month. Chong Wei has made the final of all the tournaments he has competed in so far and he could do it again in Europe. There is no pressure on him to win.”
Tey Sue Bock also challenged Lin Dan to be ready for a mega match against LCW. Coach said that LCW will take his revenge as he missed the chance to become first World Champion from Malaysia.
While talking about Lee’s performance in London Olympics, he confidently said that “Chong Wei may have lost the early battles but I hope he will be victorious in the London Olympics and it will be good if Lin Dan is on the receiving end.”
Olympics 2012 are just less than a year away and every one is vigorously preparing for it. Chong Wei is expected to improve and work harder to a higher level to beat his rival Lin Dan who probably be there to defend his title.
