Thomas Cup: Denmark Beat Poland 5-0
KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 (Bernama) -- Denmark, seeded fourth, justified their seeding after white-washing the ninth seed, Poland 5-0 in the opening Group C match of the Thomas Cup badminton tournament at Putra Stadium, here Sunday.
The Danish team opened accounts through seasoned campaigner Peter Hoeg Gade, thrashing Poland's top singles Przemyslaw Wacha 21-9, 21-9 while Carsten Mogensen/Mathias Boe collected the second winning point, beating Adam Cwallina/Michal Logosz 21-15, 21-15.
Denmark's third singles Jan O Jorgensen sealed the winning point after outclassing Hubert Paczek 21-15, 21-16 while the combination of Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen widened the gap to 4-0 after beating Lukasz Moren/Michal Rogaiski 21-11, 21-14.
Joachim Perrson sealed the victory for Denmark taming Rafal Hawei 21-11, 21-12.
Poland will face Germany tomorrow while Denmark will battle against Germany on Tuesday to conclude their group match.
