Thomas Cup: Let's Support Our Players - Najib
KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has reached out to Malaysians via his Facebook status, calling on them to support the national badminton team in the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup tournaments which start on Sunday.
Najib wrote: "Today our national badminton players begin their Thomas and Uber Cup campaign on home soil. Let's throw our support behind the team in the spirit of 1Malaysia!"
At noon, some 200 Facebook users commented on the status, expressing their support to the team, and 480 others "liked" it.
Yesterday, the prime minister expressed the hope that the squad would do their best and win back the coveted Thomas Cup.
Malaysia last won the cup in 1992.
