USA Badminton
USA badminton is the recognized National body for governing the sport or badminton in the United States of America.
| USA badminton is a mammoth organization which includes five geographical regions, about fifty state associations and umpteen number of member clubs whereby the sport of badminton is available for anyone who's interested to take it up. It has people ranging from school kids to senior citizens enrolled as members. USA Badminton has the responsibility and rights to oversee and manage all types of badminton competition in the United States. It is also involved actively in the preparation of best players in United States for the Olympic games. In addition, USA Badminton joins force and work with the National Organizing Committees around the entire world. It does so for increasing the level of professional, amateurish and recreational badminton at a worldwide level. Presently the National Office of USA badminton is situated in the US Olympic Training Center located in Colorado Springs from the year 1991. Shortly after setting up office there, it was decided that the mission of USA badminton is to work as the national body for governing the sport of badminton, to improve and increase the number of people participating in the sport, to provide the highest quality service to its members, to attempt, achieve and maintain high levels of outstanding performance in international competitions for badminton. It reinforced the above objectives by giving rise to the Olympic Player Development Committee during 1993. In trying to fulfill this mission, promising badminton players from US are selected by USA badminton and sent to participate in World championships, Thomas cup (world men's team championships), Uber cup (world women's team championships), Sudirman cup (world mixed team championship), Pan American Games and World Junior Championship matches. In addition, USA badminton conducts major US competitions, which includes US National Championships, US Junior National Championships and US Senior National Championships conducted on an annual basis. Among these, the US National Championship is a prestigious two star event with prize money of over 35000 US dollars on the IBF's World Grandprix Circuit. Not only that, USA badminton also arranges "BCD" level National championships in which the part-time and amateur players play against each other for national glory. In this sense, it is available for anyone who wants to play and compete, provided they are medically fit. As if the above are not enough, USA badminton has its own Grand prix circuit. The leading players fight against each other in the five regions of USA badminton for glory. Also there are many other tournaments, which are supported by USA badminton. Like badminton England, USA badminton publishes a newsletter, conducts regular camps for training and coaching and follows a ranking system for players. It has also got properly certified and qualified officials in national and regional levels. |
